Miami WorldCenter Mall
Miami WorldCenter at Park West
WorldCenter at Park West, initially reminds me of the Midtown Miami
Project…just in a much better location.
Then I think back to the Omni Center, just a few blocks away…built to
capitalize on the wealthy South America visitors in the 80’s. Bad timing there.
Or I can remember a much smaller project, like the Mayfair in Coconut Grove, which is currently under going it’s third or fourth reincarnation; and ask will this be the same.

But, frankly, all one has to do is think about Brickell Key…the first building
was completed in 1982 during the “condo crisis” of the 80’s. Now, twenty-six years later, there are eleven residential towers, a world class hotel and an office tower plus service retail. Brickell Key could be described as “a city within a city” . The same phrase the developer of Miami WorldCenter is quoted in the Miami Herald to describe his project. Although Brickell Key is slightly larger, at forty-four acres, the scope of the project and it’s need for a lengthy timeline are the same.
Location, Location, Location
Certainly, one could argue that Miami WorldCenter has a superior location. Adjacent to the Wolfson Campus at Miami Community College is a big plus! Many of our second home buyers rank proximity to continuing education as very desirable.
Add to this, the American Airlines Arena and the Adrienne Arscht PARC and you might say what a location. Certainly when compared to Miami Midtown and Brickell Key, it’s hard to argue that either is better than this.
Infratructure, Infrastructure, Infrastructure
The Miami WorldCenter certainly fills a void in Miami’s Downtown infratructure. As the neighboring buildings, 900 Biscayne, Marquis, Ten Museum Park and Marina Blue, fill up with residents, they will need this type of project. Come on, now, you know they’ll be filling up, right? You just don’t know when…do you Mr. Jones?
Financing, Financing, Financing
The “sticky wickets” here are financing and timing. But hey,…isn’t that what developers get paid the big bucks for, picking the right time and getting the right financing. The jury’s out on this one, but in the meantime, It’s Deja Vu…All Over Again!
